The Commission was established in 2020 during the height of the COVID pandemic, which dramatically impacted court operations throughout the state.
The changes necessitated by the pandemic paved the way for the court system’s embrace of new technologies and approaches, with a focus on fairness and efficiency.
Through its Working Groups, performing their own research and analysis, public hearings, listening sessions, and comments received from the public, the Commission seeks to make recommendations to remove barriers to justice, as well as to help prepare the Court System to effectively meet the justice needs of all New Yorkers today and in the years to come.
